Nail Care: Tips for Healthy and Beautiful Nails
Who doesn't like having beautiful nails? Not only do they look good on you, but they also feel good to touch. But more importantly, it is an indication that your skin and nails are healthy. Keeping them healthy and beautiful is also not hard to do so long as you take care of it on a regular basis. You just need to change a few things in your daily routine to achieve beautiful nails.
1. Moisturize your hands daily.
When you are moisturizing your hands, it is not just your hands you are taking care of. You are also taking care of your nails. When you are applying your body moisturizer or lotion, make sure that you work it into your nails and cuticles as well. Washing your hands can easily dry out the skin in your nails so every time you wash it, make sure to always moisturize it right after.
2. Do not trim your cuticles when getting a manicure.
Cuticles are there for a reason and it may look unappealing at most times, it is important that you don’t remove them. They serve as a barrier for bacteria from getting to your nails which can then lead to infections. If you have to, you can moisten it and just trim the dead pieces of skin alone, but not all the cuticles.
3. Avoid using nail polish with toxic chemicals in it.
Make sure to read the label carefully before you purchase a nail polish so you will know beforehand if it contains toxic chemicals. As much as possible, buy water-based polishes as they are a safer option. The only downside for this option is that it doesn’t last that long. However, they are definitely a safer and much better option to ensure that you retain beautiful and healthy nails.
